Is there an afterlife? Is there light at the end of the tunnel, an afterlife? 'PROOF of HEAVEN, A Neurosurgeon's Journey into the Afterlife' by Dr Eben Alexander, A New York Times Bestseller first published in 2012. What follows are a few accurately produced extracts from his book plus our comments: Dr Alexander is known worldwide for his work in developing advanced neurosurgical technologies for example disorders of the brain. He has been present at the death of many seriously ill patients, so could be regarded as something of an expert on the subject. He ended up as a patient in his own hospital, 'The Focused Ultrasound Surgery Foundation in Charlottesville suffering from acute E. coli gram-negative bacterial meningitis. Many of his colleagues in the hospital in question fought to save his life and fortunately succeeded enabling him to write the book about his life and near death experiences:

The following data shows just how close he came to his life's end as his condition continued to deteriorate: The cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) glucose level is 80 milligrams per deciliter in a normal healthy person, an extremely sick person in imminent danger of dying from bacterial meningitis is 20 milligrams per deciliter, and his CSF reading was 1. So now let us turn to consider what he witnessed whilst in a deep coma close to death and its ramifications: Extracts from the book: 'I was flying, passing over trees and fields, streams and water-falls, and here and there, people. There were children, too, laughing and playing. The people sang and danced around in circles ...'. 'A beautiful, incredible dream world ... Except it wasn't a dream ... ' '... this place I'd suddenly found myself in was completely real.' 'I know the difference between fantasy and reality, and I know that the experience I'm struggling to give you the vaguest, most completely unsatisfactory picture of, was the single most real experience of my life.' Dr Alexander experienced an encounter with God: God's presence emanated from what he described as light from a brilliant orb surrounded by infinite darkness. 'The orb was a kind of "interpreter" between me and this extraordinary presence surrounding me.' We recommend that you acquire the book to discover more of his amazing out of this world story. You might be wondering what the relevance of Dr Alexander's story is in our quest to prove the existence of a Creator God. The doctors out of this world experience surely demonstrates that Heaven is a very real place, the residence not only of God but of the angels and 'born again' people. The revelation also provides convincing evidence that life came about through an act of Creation by God, otherwise why would He bother to care for us in Heaven after we had passed away? Clearly Dr Alexander's experience demonstrates that there is a God, that He loves us because He Created us, and therefore goes to great lengths to provide a wonderfully happy place for us after death. Another close encounter with death and the incredible experiences associated with it is, 'Glimpse of HEAVEN', the Amazing Story of Ian McCormack. Ian McCormack wants people to know he's heard the voice of God. The New Zealand native was an avowed atheist when, as a young man in the early 1980s, he was stung by deadly jellyfish off the coast of Mauritius and pronounced dead. Ian has travelled the globe relaying his story of survival and his out of this World life changing experience whilst in a coma close to death to packed audiences:

It would not be unreasonable to think that these NDE's result from residual brain activity, how else do they arise? The mystery is enlarged by the fact that less than half a minute after the heart stops during the onset of an NDE, there is no measurable brain activity yet individuals "brought back" after several minutes report prolonged vivid experiences! This is surely evidence that we possess a soul and at death the soul continues to thrive being a separate entity from our material body including the brain. Both people experienced a glimpse of Eternity! God gave them a preview of what the afterlife was like and gave them the choice of joining the happy throng of people they saw below them, or return to the material world. Fortunately they chose to return and report their uplifting experience back to us. So the message we can choose to receive is that there is life available to us after death, one which encompasses a highly desirable trouble free existence, provided of course that we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, and seek forgiveness for our sins. Ken Ham in the YouTube article attached below doesn't 'beat about the bush' in his frank explanation for all the suffering in the World based purely on tracks from the Bible. It is not unusual for non-believers to illogically blame God for their travails, in doing so acknowledging His existence of course, a step in the right direction! There is no benefit in trying to hide from the truth as John 8:32 makes clear when it quotes Jesus as saying to the Jews who believed in Him: "And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free". In essence, we need to learn from our past errors of judgement and reinstate our trust in the word of God, for He only wants the best for us:
Amen to everything Pastor Ken Ham said! There is great beauty in His Creation, but we are in a fallen world of our own making. One day His perfect creation will be restored, as our Lord has promised.
