Why The World should be eternally grateful to the Jewish People (last updated: 8th March 2024)
The Jewish people have been marginalised throughout history since their involvement in the death of Jesus,
or Yeshua. (Yeshua is a Hebrew name that means "to deliver, save, or rescue" and is also the name of Jesus in Aramaic.)
Israel needs all the help it can get being so marginalised by the World's press. ONE FOR ISRAEL is the
Jewish organisation that believes in Yeshua, The Son of God
Can the international opprobrium that has been heaped on the Jewish community be justified? We suggest that it is wholly
unwarranted, on the contrary we should be thanking the Jewish people, and be wholly understanding of their historic involvement
in Jesus's death on the Cross, and show sympathy towards them as a result.
They were in an unenviable position in that God chose them for this gruesome task, and therefore they had no choice but to carry it out.
We are not claiming that the motives of the Jewish Religious leaders were admirable, as clearly according to Bible accounts they
were not, rather they were motivated by wickedness in various guises, including jealousy. So why should society at large,
certainly believers in Christ, feel indebted to the Jewish people?
Christians believe that Jesus died on the Cross to provide us all with the Hope of Salvation. A remarkable and unique gift to mankind
made possible by the unwitting action of the religious leaders, in particular Caiaphas the Jewish high priest in Jerusalem
2000 years ago.
So, in conclusion, we should be eternally grateful to the Jewish People for ,
a) bringing Jesus into the World and caring for Him as a child.
Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, was a young girl, probably only about 12 or 13 years old when the angel Gabriel came to her.
She had recently become engaged to a carpenter named Joseph. Mary was an ordinary Jewish girl, looking forward to marriage.
Suddenly her life changed forever.
Mary's Song, Luke 1 verse 46: And Mary said,
"My soul glorifies the Lord
47
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
48
for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed,
49
for the Mighty One has done great things for me-
holy is his name.
50
His mercy extends to those who fear him,
from generation to generation.
51
He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;
he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
52
He has brought down rulers from their thrones
but has lifted up the humble.
53
He has filled the hungry with good things
but has sent the rich away empty.
54
He has helped his servant Israel,
remembering to be merciful
55
to Abraham and his descendants forever,
just as he promised our ancestors."
b) unwittingly accomodating God's plan for our salvation.
It is understandable why the Jewish Nation is hesitant about heralding Jesus as the Son of God. The relatively new
organisation 'ONE FOR ISRAEL' acknowledges Yeshua as the Son of God. Let us hope 'One For Israel' continues to gather momentum in
the years ahead, and that this brings a measure of peace and security to Israel and The Arab Nations.
Our readers might wonder what any of this has to do with our cause which is to bring to the fore discoveries emanating from research
in molecular biology which lend credence to the Creation account in the Bible. It is the Jewish Nation which has provided the World
with the Christian Bible. We rest our case.
Our ministry, ONE FOR ISRAEL, is a movement of Jewish and
Arab Israeli followers of Jesus with a commission to reach their country and the nations with the Gospel.
The case against Caiaphas is that he arrested Jesus, tried him in a kangaroo court and
convicted him on a religious charge that carried the death penalty. Pilate was effectively a dictator; so long as he kept Rome happy,
he had absolute power, including power of life and death.
At Scripture Union, we are passionate about sharing the gospel with children and young
people and helping them grow deeper in their faith. That's why we've developed this digital resource, to help you in your school
assemblies and give you biblical ideas for your work in schools.
