The question we are posing is, "are we a Special Creation or merely advanced animals that evolved to our current state over much
time?".
Are we more than mere flesh and blood? Is there another dimension to our existence that sets us apart from the rest of Creation?
Is there more to us than meets the eye?
If we are a Special Creation as the Bible states then where is the evidence for this, and what does the description mean?
Can we claim that the greater intelligence and capabilities possesed by human beings is proof that we are more than mere flesh and
blood? Is there something intangible, above and beyond our recognised brain power, that sets us apart from all
other life forms?
Is it that our brains are more fine
tuned than those possesed by animal kinds enabling us to grapple with a greater range of challenges faced during life.
Animals fit perfectly into their environment fullfilling amazing roles unique to them. They are all masters at what they do,
however we are unlike animals in that we are all uniquelly different from one another. This cannot be explained by reference
solely to differences in anatomy between individuals, and our outward appearance gives little by way
of clues to an individuals unique characteristics.
This leads to the inevitable question:
Do we all possess unique qualities differing from person to person that lie outside our material bodies?.
Many clever philosophers throughout history, Aristotle (384-322 BC) being probably the most famous, have pondered the question
'what is the Point of Life'?, to try to better understand the reason for our existence but none
have provided answers that
surpass those
given in the Bible that we are here to care and protect the rest of God's Creation, and to give Glory to Him for setting it
all in motion.
The search for a meaning to life occupies the minds of us all at times. We only discover the truth after death and cannot
report back.
The question in a nutshell therefore is, "does life exist after death, and what form does it take"? Why do we not know the answer
to this simple question? Why doesn't God simply convey to us in a forthright manner the meaning and purpose of life
leaving us in no doubt about the reason for our existence?
The Bible makes clear that there exists a Heavenly realm where we hope to reside after leaving our mortal bodies behind.
Increasing numbers of people in the western hemisphere regard the Bible as a mythological rather than a historical record
describing real people. This inevitably nullifies the notion that there is life after death.
God does not provide conclusive proof of His existence and of the heavenly realm for good reasons. If we all knew beyond doubt that
the heavenly realm existed our lives may well need to be transformed. We would no longer feel able to pursue
worldly goals that were in any way ungodly, and given that the majority of such goals are constrained by earthly demands life
would become much more difficult and problematic. God, our designer, is benevolent towards us and He knows the difficulties
that we face living in the real world full of pressures to conform to the demands of society. He hopes that at some point we
will turn to Him and He will certainly respond positively if and when we do.
It is sad that many in society have been drawn into believing what most atheist leaning scientists proclaim. The concrete evidence
that life was designed is obscured by them to remove obstacles to expanding their materialistic, God denying interests.
Many of the God denying members of society are talented individuals. They fail to appreciate that the cleverness they were born
with must have originated from an even cleverer, extremely more powerful, entity. It makes little sense to think otherwise and
many such individuals to their credit come to accept this fact later in life.
What do others have to say on the subject?
The human spirit is the incorporeal (not composed of matter; having no material existence) part of man. The Bible says
that the human spirit is the very breath of Almighty God
and was breathed into man at the beginning of God's creation: "Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground
and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being" (Genesis 2:7). It is the human
spirit that gives us a consciousness of self and other remarkable, though limited, "God-like" qualities. The human spirit
includes our intellect, emotions, fears, passions, and creativity. It is this spirit that provides us with the unique ability
to comprehend and understand (Job 32:8, 18).
